State Supreme Court appoints 2 judges to judicial oversight commission

Two judges will join the Commission on Judicial Performance, the agency responsible for investigating and disciplining judicial misconduct. Justice Julia C. Kelety and Judge Kimberly Merrifield will begin their terms Saturday, replacing outgoing members Justice William S. Dato and Judge Michael B. Harper.

The state Supreme Court appointed two judges to the Commission on Judicial Performance, the agency that investigates judicial misconduct or incapacity complaints against sitting judges and disciplines them.

Justice Julia C. Kelety of the 4th District Court of Appeal and Butte County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Merrifield will start their jobs on the 11-member commission on Saturday.
