CJP hikes judges' gift limit, clarifies rules on attorney, expert testimony

The Commission on Judicial performance more than doubled the amount judges can receive as gifts, in keeping with the rise in consumer prices.

Judges can accept gifts up to $560 per year from a single source, an increase from the $250 limit, the Commission on Judicial Performance announced Friday.

The amount is adjusted every two years in line with the Consumer Price Index.

The commission also announced the adoption, as of Jan. 29, of amendments to the California Code of Civil Procedure and California Rules of Professional Conduct for which no public comment was received since they were promulgated on Dec. 6, 2...
