City prevails on claims, yet judge seeks practical fix for blighted site

Hawthorne won nuisance claims against Hawthorne Mall owners, but Judge Steve Cochran denied an injunction, citing feasibility, and urged counsel to craft a practical solution for the blighted property.

The City of Hawthorne won summary judgment on public nuisance and unfair business practice claims against the owners of the defunct and dilapidated Hawthorne Mall complex at a court hearing on Thursday. However, the judge declined to issue a permanent injunction to rejuvenate the property at this time, citing issues of feasibility.
