Dropbox fights class action, says no identity theft risk in breach

Dropbox argues plaintiffs in a class action over a 2024 data breach lack standing, claiming no sensitive data was accessed, despite hackers stealing user info.

Attorneys for Dropbox Inc., a cloud storage platform, argued on Friday that the lead plaintiffs in a consolidated, putative class action "cannot possibly allege" to be at risk of identity theft after hackers breached the company's network and stole varying degrees of personal information from users of the company's e-signature tool, Dropbox Sign.
