Judge grants California's request to block Trump administration's cancellation of teacher prep grants

U.S. District Judge Myong J. Joun temporarily restored teacher preparation funding after ruling against the Department of Education's termination of grants to California and seven other states. The judge ruled the U.S. Department of Education's explanation for the termination was insufficient and without legal grounding.

A federal judge has granted a temporary restraining order sought by California Attorney General Rob Bonta, who sued the Trump administration along with seven other states for cancelling grants for schoolteacher preparation programs that were already appropriated by Congress.
