Trump administration withdraws OPM director's declaration ahead of hearing on federal employee firings

A federal judge's order to cross-examine the acting director of the Office of Personnel Management over the firing of probationary employees has led the Trump administration to withdraw his declaration. With no witnesses expected at Thursday's hearing, the legal battle will continue without testimony.

The Trump administration has dropped the declaration of the Office of Personnel Management's acting director, Charles Ezell, after a federal judge in San Francisco ordered him to be cross-examined by attorneys for public employee unions in a case involving the firing of federal probationary workers.
