Jury awards $6M to widow of blind man killed by deputy sheriffs

Paul Mono, a legally blind man, was fatally shot by Orange County Sheriff's deputies in 2018. The verdict found the county and five deputies liable for failing to accommodate Mono's disabilities during a mental health crisis.

A federal jury unanimously awarded nearly $6 million to Susan Peck, the widow of a legally blind man who was fatally shot in his home by Orange County Sheriff's deputies in 2018.

The plaintiffs were represented by Pasadena-based Hadsell Stormer Renick & Dai LLP with partners Brian Olney, Morgan Ricketts, and David Clay Washington.

The March 12 verdict held Orange County and five deputies liable for Paul Mono's death.
