A federal jury in Kern County awarded $30.5 million to the family of a man who was fatally shot by police during a traffic stop in 2020.

The verdict was announced Thursday by attorneys for the victim's family, including J. Bernard Alexander III of Alexander Morrison + Fehr LLP in Los Angeles.
