Two lawsuits filed against a fertility clinic over alleged negligence and mishandling of embryos have taken aim at the trend of private equity involvement in fertility clinics, saying many of them are funded by "venture capitalists trying to make a quick buck."

The company, with five clinics in the Bay Area, denied the allegations.
