Lawsuit targets Trump-era delay of salamander protections

The Center for Biological Diversity has filed a federal lawsuit accusing the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service of failing to protect two rare California salamander species, linking the delay to fallout from Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency.

The Center for Biological Diversity sued the Trump administration for delaying Endangered Species Act protection for two species of California salamander.

The case is the latest in a string a string of challenges to President Donald Trump's rollbacks of environmental decisions made by former President Joe Biden. A news release from the center also mentions another player in the drama not named in the complaint, the Department of Government Efficiency, headed by Elon Musk.
