Bonta warns attorneys on ethical solicitation after LA County fires

Following a wave of lawsuits and legal ads tied to the recent Los Angeles County wildfires, Attorney General Rob Bonta has issued a reminder to California attorneys: Know the rules or face consequences.

Amid a surge of legal activity following the recent Los Angeles County wildfires, Attorney General Rob Bonta on Tuesday issued new guidance reminding attorneys of strict rules governing client solicitation after disasters.

Distributed by the State Bar, the notice emphasizes that while wildfire victims may urgently seek legal help, attorneys must not exploit the crisis through unethical or aggressive outreach.
