California Supreme Court takes up key PAGA arbitration dispute

Justices have agreed to review a closely watched appellate ruling involving efforts by workers to avoid arbitration in PAGA lawsuits by omitting individual claims. The case could resolve a growing split among state courts over the viability of these so-called "headless" PAGA actions.

In an unusual decision, the state Supreme Court on its own motion granted review of an appellate decision over an increasingly widespread practice by plaintiff's attorneys in Private Attorneys General Act cases to avoid arbitration.
