Huntington Beach vows Supreme Court fight over housing law challenge
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the city lacked standing, reaffirming a 1980 precedent barring local governments from suing their states over laws they're required to enforce.




Huntington Beach City Attorney Michael J. Vigliotti said Tuesday he plans to seek U.S. Supreme Court review of a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision that the city and its elected officials do not have standing to challenge the constitutionality of state laws requiring high-density dwellings in neighborhoods of single-family homes.
The Orange County city, which has challenged several state laws, lost a bid for en banc review of an October panel decision on Monday.
