California regulators retreat on clean truck rules amid legal pressure

The California Air Resources Board has agreed to roll back portions of its landmark trucking emissions regulations in the face of mounting legal challenges and shifting political winds. The settlement with trucking industry plaintiffs signals a major setback for the state's climate goals.

California regulators have reached a settlement with plaintiffs suing to stop portions of the state's Advanced Clean Fleets trucking regulations, according to a joint stipulation filed on Friday. The state appeared to capitulate in the face of growing legal and political odds.
