Law firm partners mobilize against Trump's sanctions on legal industry

As major law firms take different paths in response to Trump's executive orders, hundreds partners have launched a new organization, filing an amicus brief to support Susman Godfrey and pushing back against what they call an attack on the rule of law.

Earlier in the month, more than 500 law firms signed an amicus brief opposing President Donald Trump's executive order imposing sanctions on Perkins Coie LLP and other law firms in what has become a major constitutional battle.

But many of the nation's most prestigious and profitable law firms did not sign the amicus briefs. Others reached agreements with Trump to provide free legal services to the administration's causes and to change its internal policies.
