Judge weighs LAUSD co-location policy challenged under Proposition 39
A Los Angeles judge is reviewing a lawsuit challenging LAUSD's policy on campus co-location, which charter advocates argue violates a state law requiring equal access to school facilities. A Los Angeles judge is weighing whether to uphold a Los Angeles Unified School District co-location policy that critics say unfairly excludes charter schools in violation of Proposition 39--a voter-approved law requiring equitable access to school facilities for charter operators.
Judge Stephen I. Goorvitch issued a tentative ruling Monday partially upholding the policy, though a minute order indicated he ultimately took the matter under submission.
