Justice Department sues Oakland cafe owner for allegedly refusing service to Jewish customers
The suit claims violations of Title II of the Civil Rights Act and follows complaints involving anti-Semitic remarks, including video evidence. The business' attorney dismisses the claims as politically motivated retaliation aimed at silencing pro-Palestinian voices.




The U.S. Department of Justice filed a complaint Monday against the owners of an Oakland coffeehouse, accusing them of refusing to serve Jewish customers and violating their civil rights.
The lawsuit accuses Fathi Abdulrahim Harara, the Jerusalem Boxing Club LLC and Native Grounds Inc. of violating the rights of two Jewish customers who prosecutors say were refused service after acknowledging under questioning by store employees that they were Jewish.
