Google sues to block global takedown order from Brazilian court

Google files U.S. lawsuit to block Brazil's order for global removal of YouTube videos alleging LATAM employee child harassment, citing free speech violations and jurisdictional overreach.

A federal lawsuit by Google in San Jose seeks to block a Brazilian court order requiring the global removal of two YouTube videos in which a young boy describes an alleged sexual harassment incident involving a LATAM Airlines employee.

LATAM, South America's largest airline group, separately sued Google in a Brazilian court in 2018 to have the videos removed, kicking off a protracted legal battle over jurisdictional limits.
