Bar Exam bill advances with 2-year delay on California-only test

The bill follows litigation tied to technical failures in the February exam and outlines budget details for 2026 and beyond.

A revised State Bar fee bill advanced on Tuesday. Amendments added to SB 253 earlier this month would require a two-year pause on California offering its own bar exam and restore the status of the Committee of Bar Examiners.
