Gun rights groups appeal ruling upholding under-21 semiautomatic rifle ban
The dispute over whether young adults can buy firearms has divided circuits across the country, with some appellate court panels striking down laws as violations of the Second Amendment and other circuits upholding them. The latest dispute, headed to the 9th Circuit, concerns a California law.




Attorneys for gun rights groups have appealed a San Diego federal judge's order upholding a California law barring licensed firearms dealers from selling semiautomatic centerfire rifles to 18- to 20-year-olds who are not active members of law enforcement or the military.
