California courts brace for cuts, interpreter shortages, AI challenges
At its latest meeting, the Judicial Council approved new AI rules, raised alarms over an aging interpreter workforce, and outlined a plan to cushion smaller courts from midyear funding cuts.
The Judicial Council is already planning for further cuts in the coming year, even though Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a state budget less than a month ago.
At its Friday meeting, the council also approved new guidelines for artificial intelligence and heard potentially troubling news about the future availability of language interpreters.
