Judge trims Natera verdict, keeps ad ban and bulk of damages

A judge trimmed $5.5M from a $292.5M false advertising verdict against Natera but upheld the rest of the award and imposed an ad ban. Natera plans to appeal.

U.S. District Judge Edward Chen slashed a jury's $292.5 million false advertising jury award against the Natera cancer screening company by $5.5 million on Monday but declined to grant the company's request for a new trial.

Natera said it will appeal.

Last year a federal jury in San Francisco ruled for Guardant, deciding Natera should pay its rival $75 million in future damages and $175 million in punitive damages. In an advisory verdict, the jury recommended $42....
