Consumer groups accuse insurance commissioner of retaliation, denied compensation

Two consumer nonprofits have sued state Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, alleging he unlawfully denied them compensation for their participation in regulatory proceedings, retaliated against their criticism of two major 2024 insurance regulations, misapplied legal standards and undermined the process's neutrality by removing administrative law judges.
