Anti-SLAPP dismissal sought for recorder of LA council members' racist comments

Attorneys for an AFL-CIO ex-bookkeeper urged dismissal of a lawsuit over his secret recording of Los Angeles City Council members making racist comments, arguing anti-SLAPP protections apply.

Attorneys for the AFL-CIO's former bookkeeper tried to persuade a judge on Thursday to toss former Los Angeles City Council member Gilbert Cedillo's lawsuit over a surreptitious recording at the federation's headquarters in which elected officials are heard making racist comments while discussing politics in October 2021.
