LA Courts innovate by asking for help, presiding judge says

Presiding Judge Sergio C. Tapia II said Los Angeles Superior Court is partnering with Stanford, UCLA, and RAND to improve efficiency and access to justice, calling the court a "guinea pig" for reform.

As the Los Angeles Superior Court continues collaborating with outside agencies and law schools to improve case efficiency and expand access to justice, Presiding Judge Sergio Tapia II hopes the court can act as a "guinea pig" for innovative approaches -- especially given the judiciary's traditional resistance to change and the state Judicial Council's cautious stance.
