San Francisco judge blocks Trump administration firings during government shutdown

Senior U.S. District Judge Susan Y. Illston, an appointee of President Bill Clinton, issued a preliminary injunction halting the Trump administration's plan to fire federal employees during the government shutdown, ruling the move likely violates administrative law and constitutes political retribution.

In an order from the bench, a San Francisco federal judge on Tuesday issued a preliminary injunction blocking employee firings by President Donald Trump's administration during the government shutdown.
