Google moves to erase $32.5M Sonos patent verdict, citing new Federal Circuit rulings
A Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP partner urged a San Francisco federal judge to vacate a $32.5 million patent verdict in favor of Sonos, arguing new appellate decisions show the jury lacked sufficient evidence to award damages against the Alphabet subsidiary.
Less than three months after a federal appeals court overturned a judge's decision striking down a $32.5 million patent infringement verdict against Google LLC in favor of Sonos Inc., attorneys for the Alphabet Inc. subsidiary argued Wednesday that it should have to pay no damages due to subsequent court rulings.
Google asked Senior U.S. District Judge William Alsup of San Francisco for a judgment of zero as a matter of law.
