Future Motion escapes sanctions but might face steep rediscovery costs

Future Motion avoided sanctions but might have to pay major rediscovery costs after plaintiffs said it hid emails on OneWheel "nosedive" failures; a judge will allow new depositions and shift expenses to the company.

The maker of the electric skateboard OneWheel has escaped sanctions but might have to pay substantial rediscovery costs in a class action claiming power issues caused at least four deaths and injuries to many others.

John J. Wackman, of Minnesota-based Nilan Johnson Lewis PA, is an attorney for defendant Future Motion Inc. and managed to convince Northern District Magistrate Judge Susan van Keulen to not use the "stigma of sanctions" to provide the plaintiffs' relief...
