Senior 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Sandra S. Ikuta, an influential conservative voice whose rulings and dissents were often echoed by the U.S. Supreme Court, has died. She was 71.
The judge had battled pancreatic cancer for about three years but was still serving on three-judge panels as recently as the week before Thanksgiving, shortly before her death on Dec. 7, according to her colleagues.
