Families of Palisades Fire victims file wrongful death suits ahead of deadline

The lawsuits allege that failures by the state, the City of Los Angeles, utilities and telecom companies contributed to fatalities tied to the Palisades Fire.

Attorneys for families of victims killed in the Palisades Fire announced Monday a wave of wrongful death and survival lawsuits against the City of Los Angeles and the State of California.

The coordinated legal action arrived just before the Dec. 31 expiration of California Code of Civil Procedure Section 377.34, which permitted representatives to recover damages for the pain and suffering sustained by loved ones before their deaths.
