DOJ urges judge to approve HPE-Juniper merger despite states' objections

The dispute centers on whether states may probe alleged lobbying and corruption as part of a Tunney Act review of the $14 billion deal.

The U.S. Department of Justice, facing opposition from California and 11 other states to Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.'s merger with Juniper Networks Inc., asked a San Jose federal judge to approve the deal, arguing that licensing requirements and a divestiture will enable other companies to compete in those markets.
