Insurers ask judge to undo deal letting some Sacramento diocese suits proceed
Insurance companies argued the deal amounted to an improper settlement that excluded insurers and lacked required procedural safeguards.
Insurance companies have asked a federal judge to overturn a bankruptcy court approval of a deal allowing some sexual abuse lawsuits against the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento to proceed in state court. The latest brief claims that the agreement was a legal settlement to which the insurers should have been a party -- and which failed to satisfy procedural and evidentiary requirements.
