A federal judge certified multiple purchaser and reseller classes in an antitrust lawsuit alleging Juul's partial merger with Altria unlawfully reduced competition in the e-cigarette market.

Senior U.S. District Judge William H. Orrick granted plaintiffs' request to certify a class in an antitrust case against e-cigarette maker Juul over its partial merger with tobacco giant Altria.

The 2018 deal saw Altria take a 35% stake in Juul and pull its own line of e-cigarettes from the market in return.
