Insurers seek jury trial in San Francisco archdiocese abuse coverage fight
Two insurers asked a federal judge to remove their coverage dispute from bankruptcy court, arguing jurors must decide whether church leaders knew of historic abuse and whether decades-old policies apply.
Two insurers in bankruptcy proceedings with the Roman Catholic Archbishop of San Francisco have demanded a federal jury trial to decide how the archdiocese handled more than 500 claims of historic abuse, saying a jury must answer questions such as whether the church authorities knew priests were sexually abusing children.
