Judge presses LA, homeless advocates to end data monitor impasse
Judge David O. Carter criticized the City of Los Angeles and homeless advocates for prolonging a dispute over a court-appointed data monitor, urging them to reach agreement and avoid further public expense in ongoing oversight litigation.
U.S. District Judge David O. Carter took counsel for the City of Los Angeles and homeless advocates to task Wednesday, telling them that an ongoing dispute over the appointment of a data monitor to aid him in overseeing homeless reduction efforts is wasting public time and money. He asked them to try to come to an agreement on the spot.
"You've had months now," Carter said during the evidentiary hearing, drawing murmurs of agreement from the court gallery.
