Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael E. Pastor, a meticulous and widely respected jurist who presided over some of the county's most high-profile criminal cases, including the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray in the death of pop star Michael Jackson, died Saturday. He was 76.
Presiding Judge Sergio C. Tapia II and Assistant Presiding Judge Ricardo R. Ocampo announced his death in a statement to the court.
