Gov. Gavin Newsom praised several counties for their CARE Court programs this week and lambasted others. But one stood out: Alameda County.
The densely populated county of 1.7 million was included on Newsom's list of "CARE Champions." Several other counties on the list are small, at least by Golden State standards, including Tuolumne (56,000), Humboldt (136,000), and Imperial (180,000).
