Solano public defender strike could halt courts as private attorneys are scarce
A strike by Solano County public defenders refusing new cases may soon halt criminal hearings, as critics warn too few private attorneys exist to represent indigent defendants during ongoing contract negotiations.
The ongoing Solano County public defenders' strike is going to force the court system to "collapse in a few more days" as there are not enough private attorneys to pick up the slack, a former deputy in the office said Thursday, amid reports that the alternate public defenders are striking too.
