Live Nation deal sparks state revolt against DOJ

The Trump administration's decision to let Live Nation keep Ticketmaster has put 25 states in the rare and unenviable position of trying to break up a company on their own -- a fight legal experts say is nearly impossible to win without the federal government.

The Trump administration's decision to settle its antitrust case against Beverly Hills-based concert promoter Live Nation Entertainment Inc. is the latest sign that aggressive enforcement may not be on the horizon -- even when states want to push forward.

The settlement would allow Live Nation to keep its Ticketmaster subsidiary, abandoning the breakup the government had sought.
