LA County says lawsuit over $2M payout is time-barred

Los Angeles County argues a taxpayer lawsuit over a $2 million payout to its former CEO is untimely and legally deficient, while plaintiff's counsel says officials are avoiding the merits.

Los Angeles County officials moved to dismiss a taxpayer lawsuit claiming an illegal $2 million payout was made to its just-retired top executive, arguing in a demurrer that the claims are time-barred and legally deficient.

However, the taxpayer's attorney pushed back on those arguments Monday and criticized the county's response as relying on technicalities instead of addressing what happened.
