Talc trial against Walmart ends in early settlement
A Los Angeles asbestos trial over Walmart's Equate talc products ended a day after opening statements when the parties reached an undisclosed settlement. Superior Court Judge Theresa M. Traber is overseeing coordinated Johnson & Johnson ovarian cancer talc proceedings, where a second bellwether trial opens on Monday.
A Los Angeles jury trial in a talc-asbestos case against Walmart and supplier Vi-Jon ended abruptly Thursday after the parties reached a settlement one day after opening statements and the plaintiff's testimony.
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. The case is part of a broader coordinated asbestos litigation in Los Angeles County Superior Court involving Walmart and other cosmetic and consumer product companies.
