Blueground to pay $1.2 million, refund tenants in LA wildfire rent-gouging settlement
Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto announced a $1.2 million settlement with Blueground over allegations the company unlawfully raised rents after the January 2025 wildfires. The agreement requires refunds for overcharged tenants and imposes five years of compliance measures tied to future emergency pricing restrictions.
Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto announced Thursday that Blueground, a global short-term housing company, agreed to pay $1.2 million, refund tenants and change its leasing practices to resolve claims it unlawfully raised rental prices after the January 2025 wildfires.
Blueground did not admit liability or wrongdoing under the agreement, which the parties reached Monday, according to the stipulated judgment.
