$5.5B J&J talc deal could shrink California coordinated litigation
A proposed nationwide Johnson & Johnson talc settlement could resolve most California ovarian cancer claims, though opt-outs and excluded plaintiffs could keep portions of the coordinated Los Angeles litigation alive.
California's decade-long coordinated litigation over claims that Johnson & Johnson's talc-based Baby Powder and other products caused ovarian cancer could be significantly reduced under a proposed nationwide settlement with an initial $5.5 billion commitment and no cap on the total payout.
However, the coordinated Los Angeles County Superior Court cases may not disappear entirely.
