LA County ‘Barristers Meet Bar’ reception set for January

LOS ANGELES — Young local attorneys will get a chance to mingle with state and federal judges at the annual “Barristers’ Bench Meets the Bar Reception” on Jan. 31 at the Jonathan Club.

The cocktail reception is again being organized by the Barristers/Young Attorneys Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Barristers is a collection of lawyers who are 36 or younger or have been admitted to practice for five years or less.

Dozens of judges usually attend the event, said J.D. Rees of Sheppard Mullin and who is also the function’s chair.

“It’s a really great opportunity for the leaders in our judiciary to get to share some war stories and bits of advice and maybe a couple of laughs with young attorneys,” he said.

The event is free, but those wanting to attend must register by clicking on the bar association’s calendar of events at
