Hon. Michael Marcus (Ret.), a six-time Daily Journal Top 50 Neutral, with ADR Services for over 20 years, has resolved more than 4,000 contested matters of all types. Attorneys, with whom he has worked, appreciate his preparation, knowledge of the legal principles involved, patience and personable approach.

His experience as both a former deputy district attorney and civil litigator, in which he tried over 150 jury trials and as a law firm partner; the Presiding Judge of the State Bar Court and a law school Evidence professor, have provided him with the necessary training and background to evaluate the varied cases he has mediated, arbitrated and served as a discovery referee.

Throughout his legal career, Judge Marcus has written extensively, including a book on trial preparation and monthly "Mediation Messages" for sixteen years on issues pertaining to dispute resolution.

Most recently, he wrote for and appeared on a January 2022 CLA panel on Ethics and Bias for the New Employment Practitioner and wrote an article on Mediation and Arbitration for the March 2022 CLA Labor & Employment Law Review.

He has also been extensively involved in Bar activities, having served as a LACBA Trustee and Governor of the State Bar, as well as assuming leadership positions with both the LACBA and State Bar litigation sections.
