Los Angeles County Superior Court facilities in downtown Los Angeles will be closed Friday for the Dodgers' victory parade. The federal courthouse in downtown Los Angeles will remain open with a few matters scheduled to be heard.
Streets surrounding the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Spring Street Courthouse and the Superior Court Archives and Records Center will be closed at 4 a.m. Friday. Matters scheduled for Nov. 1 in those courthouses will be continued or rescheduled. Parties will be notified by the court or counsel regarding new dates.
Time-sensitive criminal cases will be transferred to the Central Arraignment Courthouse or the East Los Angeles Courthouse. The court will provide counsel with notice.
Restraining orders can be obtained at any courthouse that hears family law matters not impacted by the closure. Individuals with restraining order hearings on Friday, Nov. 1 will be mailed continuances (Form 116), extending temporary restraining orders, with new hearing dates.
Those seeking in-person assistance are advised to visit any of the court's Self-Help Centers not impacted by the closure.
Electronic filing services will remain available at www.lacourt.org. Parties with statutory filing deadlines that fall on Nov. 1 who are authorized to file pleadings and documents at a filing window rather than electronically may file in person at any other courthouse location not impacted by the closure.
Jurors currently serving on trials in the impacted courthouses will be notified of their continuance dates by the court. Criminal grand jurors scheduled to appear at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center are advised to appear on Monday, Nov. 4 instead of Friday, Nov. 1.
