Veterans Legal Institute

5 years of service

E3

After high school, my options were limited, so I chose the Marine Corps to avoid a dead-end career path. The structure and discipline I gained in service shaped my future and gave me the tools to forge a new direction. The Marines instilled in me a commitment to organization, attention to detail, and tact - qualities that became the very foundation of my work as an attorney.

Being a veteran means having cast aside the individual need to serve a higher purpose. It's about knowing what it means to work through hard days, to show up for others, and to stick to my word. I don't think of it as something that defines me as a person, but how I see the world now. It's a perspective that keeps me steady, reminds me to stay focused, and to appreciate what I have.
