California State Guard, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate

5 years active duty, 2 years California National Guard

Captain (O-3)

I went to law school while supported by the Post-9/11 GI Bill. My active service enabled me the opportunity to continue my education, gain my JD degree, and then gain my license to practice law in California. The U.S. Army taught me to care for those who seek help and protection, and that mentality is absolutely crucial as a practicing attorney - to provide legal help for those in need.

To me, being a veteran is about staking a personal claim in the affairs of our nation. It's about taking interest, being involved, educating others, and remaining vigilant to the needs of our country and to our communities. I swore a solemn oath to support and defend the Constitution, and it becomes a promise that you can never leave; even out of uniform, we continue our service to the best of our ability.
