Captain
Becoming and serving as a Marine infantry officer helped me develop traits that have been critical to my success as a lawyer. Ultimately, the experience taught me how to exercise sound judgment and make good decisions with limited information and in dynamic situations. I have found that being a litigator often requires the same set of intellectual and physical tools.
I spent most of my 20s in the Marines. I was incredibly blessed to part of an institution formed around ancient ideas of respect, integrity, and the notion that facts matter. In my view, being a veteran rolls up into being and doing something honorable. It's one of the most honorable things I've ever done, and I try to apply the lessons I learned as a Marine to other areas in my life, including the practice of law.
