California voters have approved a ballot measure increasing certain drug and theft penalties, with Proposition 36 leading the vote count 70% to 30% Wednesday morning.
In Los Angeles County there is set to be a change in leadership in the district attorney's office. Challenger Nathan Hochman, with 61% of the vote on Wednesday morning, is leading incumbent George Gascón, on 38%. Gascón conceded defeat Wednesday morning.
In Alameda County, the effort to recall District Attorney Pamela Price from office is leading by 65% to 35%.
In San Francisco, current District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has been returned to office. She led challenger Ryan Khojasteh by 67% to 32% on Wednesday morning.
